The figures all the way to the right depict winged Ǽrohs (Eros, Ἔρως) riding a Læóhkampos (Leocampus, Λεώκαμπος), a sea-God having the form of a lion with two fish-tails. In the center is an unknown deity accompanied by an Ippókampos (Hippocampus, Ἱππόκαμπος), a sea-God having the shape of a horse with a fish's tail. He is a type of merman, having the upper body of a man but wielding a fish-like tail, and sometimes depicted with two tails. Trítohn is the son of Poseidóhn (Poseidon, Ποσειδῶν) and Amphitríti (Amphitritê, Ἀμφιτρίτη). The figure all the way to the left is either Trítohn (Triton, Τρίτων) himself or one of his minions. The sculpture depicts three Trítohnæs (Tritones or Tritons, Τρίτωνες), divine sea-Gods. One can only imagine what this was part of. The author assumes it is of Italian origin but in truth nothing is known of it's history. It seems to be very old, for much of the pigment has fallen off from age. The carving was created from a single piece of wood and the figures and background are vibrantly painted, although badly needing restoration. The figures are carved in deep relief, some being completely in-the-round. The piece is 37-1/2 inches long, nine inches tall, and three inches deep.
